2008 Theme: Romania Simply Surprising

This year’s theme and special program features adoptees who returned to their birth country with their families in August 2007 and July 2004 to experience the Romanian culture and people through the Ties Program. Families will recap Romania’s pride, prosperity and changes along with what they learned about Romania. Special Guest Speaker will be Bea Evans, the Romanian Ties Coordinator.

The Ties That Bind

Pre-Retreat Option

The Planning Committee listened to requests from so many of us to add time to the Celebrate Romania Family Retreat. This time meets our needs of “hanging out and catching up”. You may add this option to your registration to extend your time with the “Celebrate Romania family”. The Pre-Retreat is available separately for anyone unable to attend the weekend events. Informal plans include:

• Teen Jam Session
• Talent Show Rehearsal
• Parent Social
• Pool time
• “Hanging Out”
• “Catching Up”
• Relaxing
• Etc.

Opening Ceremony: Adoptee Introductions

This year, introductions will be made by Romanian regions, and cities within the regions. A large placard will announce the region, and adoptees will carry individual birthplace signs. If possible bring photos of your birthplace. These photos can be no larger that 8 ½” x 11” or can be a collection of photos mounted on an 8 ½” x 11” white sheet of paper.

Remember to bring your special addition this year!!!

• Birthplace Photo or collection of photos; 8 ½” x 11”
• “Let Me Tell You My Adoption Story” 10 minute presentation or story board
• Written story, poster board, pictures, video clips etc.
• Individual or family presentations
• Be creative.
• Requires advance preparation at home.
• Individual and family setup on Friday evening
• Talent-No Talent Show entry & props (if needed)
• Closing Ceremony song, skit, reading, memories, etc. to share
• Your excitement & enthusiasm for having the time of your life!!!
